Usually, it was not a big deal for children to draw themselves or things that were related to them. But those who grew up in an orphanage tended to think poorly of themselves, so they might have difficulties drawing "me."
When they were left this way, they could grow to have negative perspectives or even have difficulties getting along with others.
“Kids, I used to draw myself when I lived here 20 years ago. At first, I didn’t know how I looked and really didn’t like to do it. But it was actually fun. Just trust me, and give it a try. I’ll help you.”

Children who were whining calmed down and picked up colored pencils.
“Draw however you want to. You can draw yourself the way you want to be.”
