In disbelief, Elias alternated between looking at Kyu-ha standing and K'aak Chi prostrate on the floor. The Chief Priest of Stars, K'aak Chi, had been inexplicable in his father's generation and had existed in his father's father's generation. He was both an object of reverence and fear for the tribesmen. Elias could not make sense of the sight of Priest K'aak Chi, who seemed transcendent by some mysterious miracle.
