Jean Dumont.
He used to be called the godfather of the French film industry but was now a forgotten director who was out of the public's memory.
Born to a low-income family in a rural farmer's household, the young Jean used to sneak into theaters to watch movies, nurturing his dream of becoming a filmmaker.
When he became an adult, he left home and searched around the film industry, taking any jobs he could get and going diligently around film sites in his spare time.

Jean Dumont caught the eye of director Luc Besson, who was called the 'film virtuoso' at that time.
"Directing films isn't just drawing a fancy picture and putting it before a camera. What would you do when the sun is already setting, and you have only managed to take two of the five cutscenes left while the budget is nearly used up? Hahaha. Only then will you realize what directing is really about. It's the director's damn job to extract positive willpower, even when dreams and reality crash and burn, and you just want to run away from everything. You will someday understand why I have the habit of smiling even in the worst situations."
