The Third Prince’s attitude was too serious to dismiss as a joke.
He asked me to become his man.
That was the same offer I had received from the Crown Prince and Daria, but their meaning and the Third Prince’s were different.
While the Crown Prince’s and Daria’s offers were more political, the Third Prince’s wasn’t.
It felt almost pure, like he genuinely wanted me to be his.
Like a friend or part of his family, the Third Prince asked me to become something like that.

It was perplexing for him to ask that of me.

I mean, didn't he think I might refuse?
I couldn't say I was close to him yet; we were just getting to know each other.
I was still thinking, 'Ah, this guy is kind of pitiful,' so I couldn't believe he offered that suggestion.
He couldn’t think I would accept it, right?
