Latin Kings.
It was a gang based in the state of Michigan, somewhere east of Detroit. Most of the gang members were people of color, and the leader Diaz was of Mexican American descent.
“Chuckle. Hey, Shuck! You Mexicans are totally useless! Why did you come to the States?”
“Clench.”
Since his childhood, Diaz had been bullied by racists, and he had gathered quite the animosity against racism.
He once tried to complain about it at school.
But it didn’t make much of a difference.
One day when Diaz was using a vending machine, someone poured hot drinks on the back of his neck, and it left him with a permanent scar. He was furious and reported the incident to his homeroom teacher, but all the bully got as punishment was writing a few pages of an apology letter.
That made him realize that no one was on his side at school, and he dropped out. Then he formed the gang ‘Latin Kings.’
In the early days, ‘Latin Kings’ was barely noticeable in Detroit. But Diaz recruited members who suffered from racism like him, and with his great leadership and entrepreneurship, the gang grew fast. Word spread rapidly...
