Mt. Taebaek Snow Festival and International Snow Sculpture Competition
The preparation of the event held by Taebaek City and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports organized by the Korean Sculptor Association has almost reached the final stage.
“Hey, you on the excavator! Put a bit more to the left! Hey, hey, mind the snow not to fall over there!”
The Mt. Taebaek Snow Festival has been held nearly twenty-seven times to date. However, it has never generated a significant tourism impact in comparison to the initial budget, so it is only continued out of tradition.
It was an annual representative event in Taebaek City, but most of the entertainment elements were lame and artificial.
But this time, the secretary-director Kim Jung-hwan’s proposal was well received and supported by Taeback City’s Tourism and Culture Department and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports. They invested 3.5 billion won in total, which was three times more than the existing budget.
The point of Kim Jung-hwan’s persuasion was simple and clear.
