Nowadays, whether in dramas or movies, the importance of OSTs are growing by the day, to the point where OST perfection is critical to the success of dramas.
It was unusual, yet there are times when OSTs have been more popular than dramas.
In the past, OSTs were mainly sung by guide vocalists. As the status of OSTs has increased, there are cases where unknown singers serve OSTs well and go on to become top singers or are re-examined for their singing skills.
Usually, the music producers of the drama music team are in charge of producing the OST. They set the album concept and compose it themselves.
Kang Cheol-joo, a music director by the stage name ‘Owl,’ successfully produced the OSTs for Flower in Memories and One Ordinary Day last year and took charge of the OST production of the TVM drama Pygmalion Reverse Effect.
Thus, Kang Cheol-joo had been eating and sleeping in the studio for weeks while composing, recording, mixing, and even mastering OST songs that would be included in Pygmalion Reverse Effect.
Thanks to his hard work, six of the OST songs he composed were nearly completed, leaving only the last one.
