Alain's popularity and reputation grew even more after the piano showdown with Pascal, a famous English pianist.
Many of the ship farers gathered to listen to Alain play the piano, and the popularity of the Parnell Orchestra increased, continuing many performances.
However, Alain's eyes were gloomy.
"Hey, Alain, are you okay? You look like you're going to die. You look so out of shape."
"It's okay. I just didn't get much sleep."
"You were going to clean the practice room today, right, Alain? Why don't you just go inside and get some rest? I'll do it for you."
Alain smiled weakly at the favor Laurent, the violinist, offered him and responded.
"It's really okay. I'm going to sleep well and drink a few glasses of strong rum today."
"Oh, look at your face now. Hurry up and go in, or I will get angry!"
Laurent pushed Alain toward the staff room, almost as if he were shoving him.
Alain thanked Laurent as there was nothing else he could do about the situation.
"I'm sorry for the trouble. I'll be back as soon as I feel better."
